Once again, to kick off the festival, we will be parading through the streets of our new home in Stratford adorned in a fine array of costumes and outfits spanning every imaginable corner of the sci-fi and fantasy spectrum. To conclude our celebration, join us at our fantastic after-party where music, games, and special guests will be meeting you for an afternoon of sci-fi fun!
The parade is taking place on Sunday 28th April 2013.
The parade will begin its journey at approximately 14:30, so we ask paraders to begin gathering from 13:30, to allow for photo opps, and to ensure everyone is ready in place for the march.
We are gathering on Theatre Square, Stratford, which is directly outside Stratford’s PictureHouse cinema, which is the home of this year’s festival.
Come dressed as anyone you like! Although we are a sci-fi festival the parade is just to celebrate the fun and frivolity of dressing up so there is no theme, we just want to encourage you all to come in some costume of sorts! That said, it is the 50th anniversary of Dr Who, so bowties, long scarves, Daleks and so on are very welcome!
Cosplayers, zombies, stormtroopers, steampunks, daywalkers, superheroes, whatever your favourite film, game, TV or literary character, get out your 'Sunday best', dress up and join us for a fun filled parade!
When preparing your costume, please keep certain things in mind. Many science-fiction and fantasy costumes involve weapon-like accessories. Please see the following Weapons Guidelines to ensure your own and public safety and that we all adhere to the law:
Taking part in the parade is free, whether you march with us or simply gather around to watch. We ask that you register with us if you are attending so that we can get an idea of numbers, and only registered guests will be admitted to the after-party, which is a private event but also free. There will be light refreshments on offer, as well as a bar, music and party games, so register now to make sure you don’t miss out!
(Registration may be made for groups of up to 4 at a time. You do not need to register for each individual. Places for the after-party are limited and allocated to costumed attendees only on a first come first served basis)
